Why we exist 

Every device we refurbish and resell keeps raw materials in use, avoids unnecessary manufacturing, and reduces electronic waste. Extending the life of smartphones is one of the fastest, most effective ways to reduce the tech sector’s environmental impact — and it is the core of Remobile’s mission. Industry lifecycle studies show large CO₂ and resource savings from choosing refurbished devices over new ones.

Our Green Promise — what Remobile commits to

  • Extend product life: Every Remobile device is tested, repaired (where needed), cleaned and reconditioned so it can stay in use longer.
  • New-battery guarantee: Devices sold with a new battery are covered by our 24-month warranty on battery and device (see Warranty section below). A healthy battery means longer life and fewer replacements.
  • 60-day, customer-friendly returns: We offer a 60-day change-of-mind return window in addition to EU statutory rights. This reduces the chance a device goes unused or destined for waste.
  • Responsible reuse & recycling: Devices that cannot be refurbished are responsibly recycled and valuable components are recovered.
  • Reduced packaging: We prioritise recyclable, minimal packaging and encourage reuse of original boxes where appropriate.
  • Transparency & evidence: We base environmental statements on accepted lifecycle (LCA) methods and published industry analyses; we will clearly label claims and explain the methodology behind any numbers we publish.

How we reduce environmental impact — our process 

  1. Sourcing & sorting — we accept trade-ins and procure devices from trusted suppliers; items are triaged to the right reconditioning path (refurbish, repair for resale, part harvest, or recycling).
  2. Full diagnostic & repair — every unit undergoes multi-point testing; failed components are replaced with verified parts; software is restored to factory settings and security-checked.
  3. Battery replacement program — where needed, we fit a new battery (covered by our 24-month warranty) to restore useful life and reliability.
  4. Quality assurance & grading — devices are graded and sold with clear condition descriptions so buyers know exactly what to expect.
  5. Data security & responsible wiping — we securely erase all personal data and provide guidance to customers on backup and resets before returns.
  6. Reuse first, recycle responsibly — items that cannot be refurbished are dismantled and passed to certified recycling partners to recover metals and reduce e-waste. 

Evidence & industry benchmarks  

  • Multiple LCA studies and platform reports find large reductions in CO₂ and resource use when choosing refurbished devices over new ones; the exact savings vary by device, repair needs and assumptions, but reported reductions commonly sit in the ~60–83% range depending on methodology.
  • Example figures used across the industry: refurbished smartphone footprints are often reported as ~78% lower (or show an average savings of ~60–80 kg CO₂ per device in illustrative studies). Warranty, coverage & how sustainability links to reliability 

  • 24-month commercial warranty on qualifying devices (devices sold with a new battery included in the same 24-month coverage). This warranty helps ensure refurbished devices remain a durable, low-impact choice for longer.
  • 12-month coverage is applied to most accessories unless otherwise stated on the product page.
  • What’s excluded: accidental damage, unauthorised repairs, improper chargers, or normal battery ageing (normal capacity decline is not considered a defect).

How we calculate and present environmental claims 

  • We follow accepted LCA approaches and will base any claims on peer-reviewed or ISO-aligned methods (the same high-level method used in leading refurbisher reports). We will always: (a) state the data source and LCA boundaries, (b) show whether the number is an industry benchmark or Remobile-specific, and (c) avoid over-claiming.

How you can help (simple steps for customers) 

  • Choose refurbished when it fits your needs — it’s one of the highest-impact choices a buyer can make in tech.
  • Trade in your old phone at purchase so parts can be reused or responsibly recycled.
  • Keep devices longer — small repairs (screen, battery) extend life far beyond a single year of use.
  • Use eco packaging — save and reuse boxes when possible for returns or secondary sales. 

Transparency & future reporting 

We aim to be transparent. where possible we will publish summary metrics (for example: number of devices refurbished, estimated CO₂ avoided using established benchmarks, and number of devices responsibly recycled). Q: Does buying refurbished really help the environment?

A: Yes — lifecycle analyses repeatedly show that buying refurbished reduces the emissions and resource use associated with a device’s production. Industry studies and refurbisher reports place typical CO₂ savings in the tens of kg per device and percentage reductions commonly from ~60% up to the low-80s depending on assumptions. 

Q: What does Remobile cover if a battery fails?

A: Devices sold with a new battery are covered for battery faults under Remobile’s 24-month warranty; normal capacity decline with age is not considered a defect.

Q: What if my device can’t be fixed?

A: If a device cannot be refurbished it will be processed for parts recovery and recycled via certified partners so materials are recovered and circular value is preserved.
